Women's Waterfall Raglan by Chalk and Notch

Today is the release of the Women's version of the Waterfall Raglan from Chalk and Notch. For the first time, I got to test a sewing pattern (other than mine), and I really liked it!

I met Gabriela through the digital pattern course that I took last year, and I got to know her patterns - Chalk and Notch patterns - when I made the children's version of the Waterfall Raglan for my daughter. I liked the children's version very much, and I was looking to make a blouse/shirt in jersey for myself, so this pattern was perfect!

Hoje é lançado o molde da versão de senhora da Waterfall Raglan, da Chalk and Notch. Foi a primeira vez que participei num teste a um molde (além dos meus moldes é claro), e adorei a experiência e o molde!

Conheci a Gabriela através do curso de modelagem digital que fiz no ano passado, e conheci os seus moldes - da Chalk and Notch - quando fiz a Waterfall Raglan para a minha filha. Andava a apetecer-me fazer uma blusa para mim em malha fininha, e este molde foi perfeito para isso!

The Waterfall Raglan is an A-line top, with raglan sleeves that come in 3 different lengths (short, 3/4 or long). It has a bottom ruffle, and a hi-low hem. The pattern includes a dress version, and detailed instructions. It is intended for knits, and is a pretty quick sew!

I made both versions for myself, both in size 2.

A Waterfall Raglan é um top/blusa em linha A, com mangas raglan com opção de 3 comprimentos diferentes (manga curta, a 3/4 ou comprida). A parte de baixo da blusa tem um folho, e é mais comprida atrás do que à frente. O molde inclui também uma versão para vestido e vem com instruções detalhadas. É um modelo para ser feito em tecidos de malha, e é bem rápido de coser!

Fiz as duas versões, um top e um vestido, ambos no tamanho 2.

First was a top in a rayon jersey, very soft and with good drape. I followed the suggestion to sew clear elastic in the raglan seams, as the fabric was very light and stretchy, and it helped the seams to keep their shape and not stretch too much.

Fiz o top numa malha de viscose (da Feira dos Tecidos), muito macia e com bom cair. Segui as indicações do molde para coser elástico transparente nas costuras das mangas (as costuras raglan), pois o tecido era bastante leve e com bastante elasticidade. Isso ajudou a que as costuras mantenham a sua forma e não estiquem demasiado com o uso.

The body is fitted at the bust and flares down. The sleeves are fitted at the forearms and a bit more loose at the bicep. The fit was perfect for me! I just shortened it a bit to fit my height better. It's a very comfortable top, versatile, and with a feminine look.

O corpo da blusa é ajustado no peito e evasé para baixo. As mangas são justas no antebraço e um pouco mais largas no bicep. O corte assentou muito bem, e a única alteração que fiz foi encurtar um pouco no comprimento, para ajustar melhor à minha altura. É uma blusa muito confortável, versátil e com um visual feminino.

It looks great on its own, or layered with a cardigan and a scarf (now that it's winter time).

Fica bem para usar sozinha ou com um casaco de malha por cima (e um cachecol ou echarpe, porque agora é inverno e está frio).

I also made a dress version, and to tell you how quick it is to sew, I made my Christmas dress on Christmas Eve morning, in about 2 hours (to cut and sew)! I had seen some pics of the dress in velvet (on the testers group), and I thought it would be perfect for Christmas.

This was also a size 2, shortened a bit, but with no other modification. Fabric is a dark blue stretch velvet, very shiny, and very slippery to sew, but it turned out soo pretty!

Além do top também fiz um vestido. Tinha visto fotos de vestidos em veludo, no grupo do teste, e fiquei cheia de vontade de fazer um para o Natal. Para verem como é uma peça rápida de fazer, fiz o meu vestido na manhã da véspera de Natal, em cerca de 2 horas (para cortar e coser).

É também um tamanho 2 sem alterações a não ser o comprimento, que encurtei 4 cms. O tecido é veludo com elasticidade, azul escuro muito brilhante (da Feira dos Tecidos também), e muito escorregadio para coser. Mas ficou mesmo festivo e perfeito para o Natal!

I can definitely see myself making this top with a 3/4 sleeve for spring, and a dress for summer!
