Tutorial - Cuequinhas para menina / Children's panties

Andava há algum tempo à procura de um molde de cuecas para fazer para a minha filha, quando vi este na revista Ottobre, que me pareceu ser exactamente o que eu queria. Comecei por fazer uma versão de teste para ver como serviam, usando a medida da anca para escolher o tamanho, mas ficaram muito pequenas e não davam para vestir. Fiz então outro teste com a medida da altura, estas já ficaram perfeitas e fiz uma série delas estilo linha de montagem!

Na revista dizia para utilizar FOE (fold over elastic), mas eu preferi utilizar elásticos de lingerie, e cosi tudo de maneira diferente do que dizia nas instruções. A maneira como eu as fiz serve para fazer quaisquer outras cuecas de menina ou de senhora, por isso preparei um tutorial.

O molde é o 16-A da revista Ottobre 6/2016 (Inverno). O tecido ideal para usar é malha de algodão simples tipo single jersey. Usei da Fluffy Diapers e daqui. Os elásticos que utilizei são elásticos de lingerie da Studio Costura Shop. Para coser não é preciso máquina corte e cose, pode-se coser tudo na máquina de costura normal.

I was looking for a panties sewing pattern to make panties for my daughter when I saw this one on Ottobre magazine. It looked like exactly what I was looking for, so I made a test version to see how they fit. For the first test I chose the size according to the hip measurement, but they turned out too small. For the second test I used the height measurement to chose the size, and they fit perfectly!

The magazine said to use FOE (fold over elastic) but I used lingerie picot elastic instead, and I sewed everything differently than instructed. The way I did is also how I sew my own panties, so I prepared a tutorial.

Pattern is 16-A from Ottobre 6/2016 (Winter) magazine. Ideal fabrics are single jersey cotton. I used from Fluffy Diapers and here. The elastics are plush picot lingerie elastics from Studio Costura Shop. Everything can be sewn on a regular sewing machine.

Para começar é preciso copiar o molde para papel vegetal. Os moldes da revista Ottobre não incluem valores de costura, por isso é necessário adicioná-los a toda a volta, excepto nas dobras (no festo). O valor de costura deve ser 7 mm, que corresponde à largura do elástico. Nas peças do molde escreva todas as anotações necessárias.

Start by tracing the pattern pieces onto tracing paper. Ottobre magazine patterns don't have seam allowances included, so add seam allowances to all lines except fold lines. Seam allowances should be 7mm, which is the width of the elastic. Write all necessary information on each pattern piece.

Dobre o tecido e posicione as peças do molde para cortar. Irá cortar 1 frente, 1 traseira e 2 virilhas. A frente e a traseira devem ser alinhadas na dobra do tecido, e a peça da virilha deve ser alinhada com a seta paralela no sentido do fio direito do tecido. Prenda e corte.

Fold the fabric and place the pattern pieces on top of it. You will cut 1 front, 1 back and 2 crotch pieces. Align the front and back pieces with the fabric fold, and the crotch piece with the grain of the fabric. Secure in place and cut.

Coloque as peças da virilha uma sobre a outra direito com direito, e coloque a traseira no meio das duas.

Place the crotch pieces right sides together, and place the back piece in between them.

Alinhe as 3 peças, prenda com alfinetes e cosa. A traseira ficou entalada entre as duas virilhas.

Align the edge of all 3 pieces, pin them together and stitch. The back piece is now sandwiched between the crotch pieces.

Vire as peças da virilha para baixo e pressione com o ferro a vapor. A costura ficou escondida.

Fold the crotch pieces down and press with steam. The seam is enclosed.

(vire a traseira de pernas para o ar) Coloque a traseira e virilhas com o direito da traseira virado para cima, e coloque a frente por cima da virilha, com o direito para baixo (ou seja, frente e traseira, direito com direito).

(turn it upside down) Lay the back and crotch on the table with right side facing up. Place the front on top of the crotch, with right side down (front and back are right sides together).

Agora vamos fazer um burrito. :-) Abra as peças da virilha e prenda a frente à virilha de cima. Enrole a traseira e a frente para cima, deixando a outra virilha solta em baixo.

Now let's make a burrito. :-) Open the crotch pieces and pin the front to the crotch that is beneath it. Roll the back and front together upwards, leaving the other crotch piece loose.

Levante a virilha de baixo, passando por cima do rolo e prenda-a à zona que já tinha alfinetes. A frente está agora ensanduichada dentro das duas virilhas. Cosa.

Bring the crotch piece up over the roll and pin it to the edge that was already pinned. The front piece is now sandwiched between both crotch pieces. Stitch.

Vire tudo com o direito para fora. Ambas as costuras ficaram escondidas dentro da virilha.

Turn the piece right sides out. Both seams are now completely enclosed.

Prenda a frente à traseira, direito com direito, pelas zonas laterais e cosa.

Pin the front to the back along the side seams, with right sides together, and stitch.

Agora vamos colocar os elásticos. Coloque uma ponta do elástico junto ao rebordo da cintura. O lado mais macio do elástico fica virado para cima, e o rebordo decorativo fica virado para o interior (ou seja, o rebordo não decorativo do elástico fica alinhado com o rebordo da cueca).

Now it's time to sew the elastics. Place one end of the elastic next to the raw edge of the waist line. The plush side of the elastic is facing up, and the picot decorative edge is facing the inside of the panties (the straight, non decorative, edge of the elastic is aligned with the raw edge of the panties).

Cosa com ponto zig zag (2,5 comprimento, 2 largura). Na zona da cintura, vá esticando levemente o elástico enquanto cose. Quando der a volta à cintura, corte o elástico excedente.

Sew with a zigzag stitch (2.5 length, 2 width). Around the waist line, stretch the elastic slightly as you sew. Sew around the waist line, and cut the remaining elastic.

Cosa o elástico nas pernas, mas aqui NÃO o estique enquanto cose.

Sew the elastic around the leg openings, but here DO NOT stretch it as you sew.

Para ficar com um acabamento mais bonito, apare o tecido excedente junto aos elásticos, para não se ficar a ver quando virar os elásticos para dentro. Eu uso uma tesoura de bico de pato para facilitar este corte.

For a clean finish trim the excess fabric next to the elastics, so that it isn't visible once you turn the elastics to the inside. I use this scissor to make this easier.

Vire o elástico para o avesso da cueca e cosa com ponto zigzag (2,5 comprimento, 3 largura). O rebordo decorativo fica visível no lado de fora e o elástico fica no interior da cueca.

Flip the elastic to the wrong side of the panties and sew with a zigzag stitch (2.5 length, 3 width). The picot decorative edge is visible on the outside, and all the remaining elastic in on the inside of the panties.

Ao coser à volta da cintura pode ser necessário esticar levemente o tecido e o elástico, como fez anteriormente.

When you sew around the waist line you may need to slightly stretch it as you did before when sewing the elastic.

Esta costura fica visível e é decorativa, por isso pode utilizar uma linha de cor contrastante. Cosa um lacinho em cetim na frente de cada cueca para dar um ar mais feminino, e as cuecas estão prontas!!!

This stitch line is visible and decorative, so you can use a contrasting color thread. Sew a small satin bow to the center front of each panty and your panties are done!!!
