O que eu costurei em Fevereiro / My February makes

Gostei de publicar o resumo das minhas criações de Janeiro, e estou decidida a continuar a fazê-lo todos os meses durante este ano. (vamos ver se consigo) :-) Em Fevereiro continuei a utilizar o calendário grátis da Beth do SewDIY. É uma maneira prática, simples e eficiente de me manter a par do que vou fazendo e do que quero fazer.

I liked posting a summary of my makes of January, and I've decided to continue doing it every month during this year. (let's see if I can keep up with it) :-) In February I continued using SewDIY's free printable sewing calendar. It really is a simple and efficient way to keep track of what I want to sew and what I actually end up sewing.

1. Calções com virola Arthur Chinos / Arthur Chinos shorts with roll up cuffs

Comecei o mês a fazer uns calções de Verão para o meu filho. Estava a terminar o meu último molde e precisava de testar os calções com virola, por isso fiz uns para o meu filho em sarja fininha azul escura, com bolsos embutidos atrás. Ficaram perfeitos! Servem-lhe muito bem e ele gostou! Agora só falta chegar o tempo quente para os vestir. :-)

My first make was a pair of shorts for my son. I was finishing my new sewing pattern and I needed to test the shorts version with roll up cuffs, so I sewed up a Summer version for my son. I used a lightweight cotton twill in dark blue, with welt pockets in the back. They turned out perfect! They fit him well and he liked them! All that's left now is to wait for the warm weather to be able to wear them. :-)

2. Disfarce de Ladybug para o Carnaval / Ladybug costume for Carnaval

A minha filha queria ser a Ladybug no Carnaval. É a sua personagem preferida, em parte porque ela se chama Joana e adora a coincidência do nome (Joaninha = Ladybug). Então eu armei-me em mãe prendada (entenda-se: armei-me em maluca), e pela primeira vez na vida costurei um disfarce para o Carnaval. Usei o meu molde do Pijama Dorminhoco para fazer uma camisola e umas calças justas, e à parte fiz uma máscara para a cara.

Utilizei um tecido de malha fininho vermelho e uma malha de peso médio preta para as bolas. Colei entretela de dupla face na malha preta, desenhei círculos a lápis no papel da entretela, e cortei todos os círculos (ía ganhando uma tendinite com isto). Depois cortei as peças do molde do pijama na malha vermelha, e em cada peça do molde ainda plana colei os círculos, e cosi cada círculo com ponto zigzag. Depois de todos os círculos cosidos é que costurei o pijama. Só no fim de tudo pronto é que contei os círculos, foram 107!

My daughter wanted to dress up as Ladybug for Carnaval. It's her favourite cartoon character, in part because of the name, as Ladybug is called Joaninha in Portuguese, which is my daughter's name (Joana). So I decided to sew her costume instead of buying one ready made. I used my Sleepy Head PJs sewing pattern to make a fitted top and pants, and I also made a face mask.

I used a lightweight red knit (probably rayon) and a medium weight black knit for the circles. I used double-sided fusible interface first on the black fabric, drew circles on it all over and cut out all the circles (and I almost got a tendonitis out of it). I then cut out all the pattern pieces of the PJs on the red fabric, fused all the circles on the fabric pieces, and sewed each circle with a zigzag stitch. Only after all of this did I assemble the PJs, and in the end I counted the circles. It was 107! I know, I'm a bit crazy.

3. Bikini

Eu queria muito conseguir fazer um bikini para mim, e em Fevereiro fui fazer um workshop na The Craft Company Cascais para aprender. Foi um sucesso. Entrei com um saco com lycra, forro e elásticos e saí de lá no fim do dia com um bikini giríssimo e que me serve, e ainda fiz uma amiga, a formadora Rita! Os tecidos e elásticos que utilizei comprei no Atelier 193.

I wanted very much to make a bikini for myself this year, so in February I attended a workshop at The Craft Company Cascais to learn how to make one. It was a success. I started the day with a bag full of lycra fabric, swimsuit lining and elastics, and by the end of the day I came home with a beautiful bikini that fits me! And to top it all I became friends with the teacher, Rita. I bought all fabrics and elastics at Atelier 193.

4. Lingerie, lingerie, lingerie

Já falei aqui da minha estreia a costurar lingerie. Depois do primeiro conjunto só parei quando utilizei todos os materiais que tinha no meu stash, o que foi 3 soutiens e 2 cuecas depois. Depois de se começar, é muito rápido e simples costurar um conjunto de lingerie (faz-se um soutien e cuecas em 2 horas), e o resultado é tão bonito que acho que tão cedo não volto a comprar lingerie nas lojas. Aqui ficam fotos de tudo e locais onde comprei moldes e materiais.

(nota: o último soutien é suposto levar armação, mas eu não tinha o tamanho certo por isso não usei, e como ele leva channeling por baixo das copas, suporta bem na mesma sem o arame)

I've already talked here about my new passion, sewing lingerie. After the first bra and panties set that I made, I couldn't stop until I had used all the supplies that I had in my stash, which was 3 bras and 2 panties later. After you start making your own lingerie it is so quick and easy to make, and the result is so pretty, that it becomes addictive (in a good way). I certainly won't stop sewing my own lingerie, and I'll probably never buy ready to wear lingerie again. Here are pics of everything that I made, and where I got the supplies from.

(note: the last bra should have underwires, but I didn't have the correct size so I didn't add it. Because the bra has channeling underneath the cups, it gives a good support even without the underwires)
