Transformar a blusa Maria em vestido / Hack the Maria blouse pattern into a dress

Desde que lancei o molde da Blusa Maria que me andava a apetecer fazer um vestido da versão franzida. Tinha esta vaiela de xadrez há quase dois anos à espera do projecto perfeito, e achei que um vestido de Inverno era mesmo o que ía ficar bem.

Ever since I released the Maria Blouse pattern, that I have been wanting to make a gathered dress out of it. I had this plaid cotton vyella in my stash for almost two years now, waiting for the right project to use it, and I thought that a Winter dress would be just right for it.

Usar o molde da Blusa Maria para fazer um vestido é muito simples. Primeiro é preciso determinar a largura e o comprimento da saia:

• Largura: meça a linha de corte da traseira do corpo e multiplique por 2 (no meu caso foi 19cm x 2 = 38cm).

So how do you hack the Maria Blouse pattern into a dress? It's actually quite simple. First you need to calculate the width of the skirt and decide on the final length of the dress:

• Width: measure the cutting line for the skirt on the back bodice piece, and multiply by 2 (mine was 19cm x 2 = 38cm).

• Comprimento: veja na tabela da blusa depois de feita qual o comprimento do corpo da blusa. Meça a criança e decida qual o comprimento total que quer que o vestido tenha. Depois calcule

Acrescente 2 cm para a baínha, e este será o comprimento a cortar para a saia. 

• Length: Decide the final length that you want the dress to be. Then check the "finished garment measurements" chart for the bodice back length. Then calculate

Pegue na peça do molde da parte de baixo e coloque sobre o tecido dobrado. Marque com giz a nova largura e o novo comprimento, e corte. Lembre-se de cortar duas vezes a saia (uma para a frente e outra para a traseira). Depois é só coser conforme as instruções do molde para a versão franzida!

Place the Bottom pattern piece on the folded fabric, draw the new cutting lines for the width and length, and cut. Remember to cut two of this, as you'll need one to make the front skirt and one to make the back skirt.

Then sew the dress following the pattern instructions for the gathered version of the blouse, and you're done!
